Area schools canceling events due to air quality concerns

Various schools on the Central Coast and surrounding areas are canceling activities due to concerns with air quality from Bay Area fires.

Blossom Valley Athletic League has canceled all athletic contests for all sports scheduled anywhere in the league on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Morgan Hill’s Homecoming Pep Rally, football game and other festivities will be moved to Friday October 20th. No after school or evening sports activities will take place.

The Morgan Hill Unified School District says they will make decisions about next week’s activities based on air quality conditions come next week.

Watsonville High School’s football game against Gilroy High School is being postponed for November 10th and Physical Education classes are being held indoors.

Santa Cruz City School District Superintendent Kris Munro, said all elementary school students will remain indoors Friday due to the air quality concerns. The middle school’s athletics have been cancelled. It has been undecided whether the high schools will have homecoming games.
