Watsonville woman arrested for starting fire outside bank

A Watsonville woman was arrested Monday morning after surveillance video captured the woman starting a fire near a bank.

According to Watsonville Police, the fire broke out at the Santa Cruz County bank at 595 Auto Center Drive around 7:20 a.m.

When WPD arrived they found a trash can on fire, near the rear door of the bank. A witness who called police had pulled the trash can away from the building.

During the investigation officers checked out surveillance video and watched a woman deliberately set the fire. Around 8:50 a.m. Watsonville Fire contacted police and said they found a woman near 260 Rodriguez Street, that matched the arson suspect.

Officers arrested 31-year-old Julia Solorio Carrillo. She is being charged with arson, felony warrant, and possession of methamphetamine.
