Monterey search warrant ends in arrest of man with gun, drugs

The Peninsula Regional Violence and Narcotics Team served a search warrant on Casanova Avenue in Monterey on Friday that led to the arrest of a 29-year-old man.

During the search, a gun, several hundred rounds of ammunition, over 4 ounces of cocaine, a scale, packing materials and over $12,000 in cash were seized, police said.

Investigators said Trevor Rains, 29, was arrested on suspicion of possession of narcotics for sale, felon in possession of a gun and felon in possession of ammunition.
