SPCA offers $1,000 reward in abandoned horse case
The SPCA for Montery County is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person who abandoned a horse in Monterey County.
The SPCA said the horse was found loose on September 28 on Sill Road in Royal Oaks, last week. The horse is a chestnut Arabian mare in her teens and was found abnormally thin and in need of dental and hoof work. SPCA officials said she is suffering from old, likely untreated injuries.
If caught the owners could be charged with permitting animals to go without veterinary care, animal cruelty, deprivation of food, water and shelter.
