Deputies arrest two in Prunedale high-speed chase

Two people were arrested after leading Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies on a chase through Prunedale early Thursday morning.

Officials tell us a vehicle ran through the stop sign at Castroville Blvd/San Miguel Canyon and when deputies tried to stop it, the driver took off. He continued to drive erratically, disregarding traffic laws and going speeds of around 80 mph.

When the driver turned onto County Meadows, he lost control and ran into the curb, taking out his front passenger tire. He then loses control at Reese Cir and Prunedale South.

The man began to run from the vehicle, but was taken into custody shortly after.

He has been identified as 22-year-old Zachary Paul Filippazzo. 22-year-old passenger Ashley Fitzjohn had an arrest warrant for DUI and was also taken into custody.
