Salinas man sentenced to thirty years for molesting daughters

A Salinas man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for molesting his three daughters over the course of 17 years.

According to the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office, 42-year-old Guadalupe Vasquez Marin was sentenced after pleading guilty to five counts of child molestation and one count of Exhibiting Harmful Matter to a Minor.

Marin was convicted of molesting his three daughters, ages 26, 20, and 13 from 1997 to 2014 in Soledad and Salinas. According to the D.A.’s Office, in 2015 Marin asked a cousin to take a picture of him naked. The cousin refused and told her mom about the incident who then contacted Soledad Police.

Once Marin’s daughters heard about the cousin’s encounter, the sisters discovered for the first time that they had all been abused by their father at different times.

Judge Carrie Panetta ordered Marin to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life and he can’t contact the victims for a period of ten years.
