Santa Cruz Boardwalk ride shut down as a precaution
The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk shut down its Fireball ride Wednesday night as a precaution, after an accident on the same model ride at the Ohio State Fair.
Kris Reyes, Boardwalk Community Affairs Director, said, “Out of an abundance of caution we decided to close down the ride for the remainder of the evening. We will be conducting a thorough inspection in the morning.”
Reyes says all rides are inspected every morning as required by the state, but because of what happened in Ohio, they felt this was the right thing to do.
The Fireball ride will reopen in the morning, pending that inspection.
