Santa Cruz makes top nine best boardwalk in the nation
The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is one of the best boardwalks in the nation, according to Conde Nast Traveller magazine.
Conde Nast Traveller has named the Boardwalk as one of the top nine boardwalks in the nation, praising the beach-side destination’s mix of historic and cutting edge rides in the process.
Traveller singled out the Loof Carousel and the Giant dipper, built in 1911 and 1924, respectively. And although the boardwalk has been around since 1907, it’s not just the classics that draw people in.
The Boardwalk opened two new rides earlier this month: Typhoon, which throws passengers 60 feet into the air, flips them over and suspends them upside down before returning them to an upright position, and Shockwave, a perpetually spinning disk that lifts passengers into the air while they remain fastened into seats lining the disk’s perimeter.
The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is open seven days a week and is located at 400 Beach St. in Santa Cruz.
