Narcotics team searches cannabis grower’s Salinas home
The San Benito County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Salinas businessman for possession of drugs with the intention of selling them.
It’s an investigation that stems from the Hollister Independence Rally. On July 1, deputies said undercover officers found 52-year-old Michael Hackett providing cocaine to people there.
Hackett was arrested and placed in the San Benito County Jail.
On Thursday, July 20, the county’s narcotics team served a search warrant at Hackett’s Salinas home on El Paso Place. Officers found 150 grams of marijuana, packaging material for sale, firearms and ammunition.
According to Hackett’s attorney, Tom Worthington, Hackett owns Casa Sorrento in Salinas. He also owns a medical marijuana farm in an unincorporated portion of Monterey County.
The Sheriff’s Office said at the time of this search warrant, no arrests were made as the investigation is on-going.
