Deputies arrest suspected gang member with loaded gun in Watsonville

A 25-year-old suspected gang member is behind bars.

on Saturday, around 5:30 p.m. deputies with the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office Gang Enforcement Team went to a home on the 400 block of East Beach Street in Watsonville to look for Alejandro Flores.

Flores had a felony arrest warrant for felon in possession of ammunition. Deputies found Flores in the home and conducted a search of the house. During a search of the bedroom Flores was found. While deputies continued to search the bedroom they located a loaded .380 caliber handgun and various suspected gang related clothing.

Flores was booked into the Santa Cruz Main Jail for possession of a firearm, illegal possession of ammunition, and participation in a criminal street gang.
