Two gang members arrested during high risk search warrant in Salinas

Two convicted felons and gang members are behind bars after a search warrant was served in Salinas.

According to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office, the SWAT team served a high risk search warrant at an apartment complex at 1085 Monroe Street at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, July 13th.

They took 37-year-old Veronica Romero and 23-year-old Cesar Gomar into custody. Gomar initially refused to exit the apartment but eventually did.

A fully automatic and loaded assault rifle was found inside the apartment along with a loaded .9mm handgun, ammunition, and meth, heroin, and drug sales items. ID and mail theft items were also found including ID’s, credit cards, bank statements, checks and U.S. mail.

Both suspects are documented Sureño criminal street gang members.

They were arrested on firearm, drug, gang and property theft related crimes.
