Parkfield Fire in South Monterey County fully contained

UPDATE 7/11/2017 10:53 a.m. A wildfire burning in South Monterey County was contained at 1,816 acres Tuesday morning.

The Parkfield Fire ignited 25 miles west of Parkfield on Vineyard Canyon Road.

Fire officials have not released the cause of the fire.

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE One firefighter was hurt Saturday night battling the Parkfield Fire burning in South Monterey County and the northern part of San Luis Obispo County, according to Cal Fire.

The firefighter had second degree burns to his hands and face and was transported to a burn center, Cal Fire said.

This fire started sometime around 6 p.m. near Vineyard Canyon Road, 25 miles west of Parkfield, according to Cal Fire.

At last check, the fire had burned 500 acres and was 0 percent contained.
