New neighborhood resource unit arrest Watsonville car thief in Morgan Hill

A 34-year-old man is behind bars for stealing a car out of Watsonville.

Morgan Hill Police Department’s new Neighborhood Resource Unit arrested 34-year-old Manuel Alvarez of King City.

The department said the NRU works to suppress criminal activity, gang activity, and property crimes.

The new unit investigated a suspicious parked car. Alvarez exited the vehicle and quickly went into the Quality Inn on Condit Road, according to Morgan Hill PD.

The NRU determined the car had been stolen out of Watsonville. Officers searched the hotel, found Alvarez hiding in one of the many rooms. Alvarez was located and sent to jail on a warrant and the additional charges include vehicle theft and possession of narcotics.
