Hollister police arrest felon carrying loaded gun

A 37-year-old man is behind bars for carrying a loaded gun, resisting arrest and for being a felon in possession of a firearm while driving under the influence.

On Saturday, July 8, the San Benito County Sheriff’s office was dispatched to the area of Union Road and Cienega Road for a report of a man shooting a handgun from a black, lowered pickup.

Hollister Police located the car on Memorial Drive. Officer Tong attempted to pull over the driver of the truck, Pedro Ramirez but Ramirez didn’t stop. Several passengers got out of the truck in the Memorial Drive and Sunnyslope Road area, but the truck continued.

Police said Ramirez stopped near Ladd Lane School and fled the truck on foot. After a short foot pursuit, Ramirez was arrested by officer Tong.

Officer Tong found a loaded semi-automatic handgun on Ramirez. He was booked at the San Benito County Jail on the listed charges.
