23-year-old Watsonville man busted with a slew of illegal guns

A 23-year-old Watsonville man was arrested Friday night when police found one loaded unregistered gun and ammo in his car and at least seven unregistered guns, including an assault rifle, in his home.

According to police, Jaime Torries had one loaded firearm along with three loaded magazines and “a substantial amount of marijuana” in his car when he was stopped for a traffic violation around 6:30 p.m. Friday night. A short time later, police drafted a search warrant for Torres’ home near Freedom Blvd. and Blanca Lane. At the residence, officers found the seven firearms, all of which were unregistered. Officers also found a high capacity magazine.
