A new route to install radar planned across Big Sur’s Mud Creek landslide
Crews are pioneering a route on the Mud Creek slide to install a motion-sensing radar. The slide in Big Sur is one of California’s largest coastal landslides.
Caltrans said the soil is still moving. Once installed, the radar can predict slide activities as much as 24 hours in advance, according to John Madonna of John Madonna Construction Co., a San Luis Obispo company handling the work.
KION’s Linda Zhang will have the story.
