Salinas Fire donates fire engines to Mexico

The Salinas Fire Department donated two fire engines to Quiroga, Michoacan, Mexico.

Wednesday fire officials from Quiroga and the senator of Michoacan received the gift at Fire Station Number 1 in Salinas.

The two vehicles donated:

— A 1997 GMC Sierra pick-up fire engine that previously served as a dry chemical attack unit for the Salinas Airport
— A 1999 Ford F450 Type VI fire engine that was used to primarily fight wildland fires.

The Salinas Fire Department has replaced both with more modern units.

The donated fire engines will be used in Quiroga on November 3 of this year. Quiroga covers approximately 80 square miles with a population of 25,000.
