Cal Fire says bird causes fire near King City

On Wednesday, a bird flew into a powerline which sparked a vegetation fire near the intersection of Lonoak Road and Highway 25.

Cal Fire received a call for a fire, east of King City. When firefighters arrived the fire was approximately 2-3 acres in size. Crews contained the blaze to 17 acres within 40 minutes. No injuries were reported from the fire.

Cal Fire would like to remind the public the importance of maintaining a minimum of 100 feet defensible space around structures. Residents are also encouraged to practice exit drills from their homes. For more information on how to prepare and prevent wildfires visit www.ReadyForWildfire.org
