Spike in thefts from cars in Seaside
Police are warning about a spike in thefts from cars in Seaside.
Officers advise you to take the necessary steps to avoid becoming a victim.
1. Always lock your vehicle and make sure all windows are rolled up.
2. Leave nothing of value in your car and do not leave personal items visible.
3. Do not leave important documents such as vehicle “pink slips”, driver licenses social security cards and legal papers in your vehicle as they can be used for fraud and identity theft.
4. Consider taking your garage remotes with you.
5. Thieves have been to break into cars just for loose change or a pack of cigarettes.
6. If you have an alarm on your vehicle, verify that it is active.
7. Place items in your trunk when you return to your vehicle before you park at your next stop.
8. Park in a busy well-lit area.
Police also urge you to call them if you see someone who appears to be out of place or is acting suspicious in your neighborhood.
