Salinas teen prom picture goes viral

A Salinas teen’s picture posing in her prom dress with her father is going viral on social media.

18-year-old Everett Alvarez High School student, Lourdes Medrano, shared the photo on Sunday, May 7th. She dressed up in her prom dress for the second time to take the picture because her father was working on prom night.

“I didn’t get to take a picture with my dad the day before since he works seven days a week so I decided to get ready again and take a picture on Sunday afternoon” Medrano said.

Shortly after, the tweet and the picture went viral.

“When I woke up my phone was like blown up by twitter notifications and it just continued to keep on going and until today, every time I will refresh it will just keep going up” Lourdes said.

KION’s Zach Fuentes was able to catch up with her father later in the evening. He had this to say to his daughter:

“I ask you to take advantage of what life has to offer… To live life to the fullest, study hard and make the right choices.”
