Brazen burglar sentenced in Monterey County
A busy burglar is facing more than eight years behind bars for a string of home burglaries in Monterey County.
The Monterey County District Attorney’s office says Kyle Jordan Knight, 37, of Seaside went on a crime spree beginning December 2016. Knight broke into a home in Carmel and stole jewelry and electronics.
King went on to break into four other homes, one in Monterey and several in Carmel, according to Monterey County D.A. Dean Flippo.
On January 29, 2017, Knight walked through an unlocked front door at a Carmel home and made off with antique jewelry and antique rifles and ammo.
Knight’s luck ran out that winter day. Home surveillance video caught him in the act of breaking into a second Carmel residence.
Police officers shared images from the video. A former classmate recognized Knight.
“When the police officers brought Knight in for questioning, he admitted to being the person in the surveillance tape and confessed to committing the other residential burglaries in Carmel and Monterey,” according to the press release issued by Monterey County D.A.’s office
