Teen arrested for breaking into Hollister business

A 17-year-old boy accused of breaking into businesses in Hollister is now in custody.

According to police, the teen broke into Heavenly Bakery on San Benito Street during the early morning hours of April 24th.

A citizen noticed the front door of the business open and officers later found the cash register was destroyed on the floor and the business had been ransacked. Police said it looked like someone had broken the door and taken an unknown amount of money from the cash register.

A few hours later, the County Rose Restaurant was also broken into. Officers discovered the front door had similar damage to the Bakery, but nothing was taken from the restaurant and no one was inside the business.

The city’s downtown surveillance video system captured the suspect at both crime scenes.

Police were then able to identify the teen with the help of school resource officers.

The teen was booked into the San Benito Juvenile Hall on charges of burglary and attempted burglary
