Portion of Highway 35 fully closed Tuesday

A portion of Highway 35 in Santa Cruz County will be fully closed Tuesday. According to Caltrans Highway 35 will be closed between Gist Road and Black Road today for paving. This all stems from the winter storms that battered the area.

“The initial work started in March. They’re working on the slide that we had, as far as repairing it and drainage installation and such. And now closing it from 8 to 5 and then it’s a done deal,” said Caltrans Public Information Officer Susana Cruz.

According to Caltrans, Residents North of this closure may detour by using Black Road, while residents South of the closure may use Bear Creek Road.
