Police arrest Santa Cruz man with thousands in cash, drugs
A Santa Cruz man was arrested Friday after a vehicle stop revealed he was hiding thousands in cash and drugs.
Police say they noticed a white dodge ram on the east side neighborhood with an expired registration.
The officer followed the van while Dispatch was confirming the vehicle’s expiration.
When the officer tried to conduct a vehicle stop the suspect refused to get out of the vehicle, saying he had a ”right to travel.”
The officer could see a large blade knife in the center console. While the officer was trying to calm him down, additional units placed spike strips in front of the tires of the van.
A K-9 Unit Officer recognized the suspect as Bradley Kellman, who has a history with local law enforcement. Kellman was on probation with active search terms for narcotics and was driving while on a suspended license for DUI.
A k-9 searched the van and alerted to the presence of narcotics. Officers then looked inside the van to find $1,405.00 in cash, packaging Material for drug sales, 6.3 grams of Methamphetamine, Electronic Scale , Several knives and CS Tear Gas.
Kellman was arrested for probation violations, driving under a suspended license, transporting, selling and possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
