Crime sweep in Greenfield leads to arrests

Seven law enforcement agencies worked together to conduct probation and parole checks in Greenfield, with the aim of cracking down on gang and violent crime in this southern Monterey County city of about 17,000 people.

The checks resulted in nine arrests, including one involving the discovery of 73 large blocks of packaged marijuana, along with a rifle and nearly $81,000 in cash, according to the Greenfield Police Department. This happened during an arrest warrant service on the 41000 block of 14th Street in Greenfield.

Police say Maria Zambrano, 32, was booked on charges of felony possession of marijuana for sales and felony child endangerment.

Fifty-one local, state and federal officers took part in today’s sweep that included state parole agents and the U.S. Marshall’s Service.
