Gilroy motorcyclist killed on Easter weekend

A Gilroy man, 52, was killed after his motorcycle collided with an SUV on Leavesley Road at around 5.25 p.m. on Saturday.

According to a CHP report, the crash happened when a westbound 2000 Ford Explorer was turning left from Leavesley Road onto Holsclaw Road. The SUV driver, Gustavo Martinez, 22, of Gilroy crashed with the motorcycle when the motorcycle struck the right-rear door of the SUV.

The SUV driver and two passengers inside the Explorer were not seriously injured. The collision remains under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident or has information can contact the CHP Hollister-Gilroy field office at 408 848 2324.
