All lanes open after Highway 156 big rig crash

UPDATE 4/7/17 2:37 p.m.: All lanes are back open on Highway 156 at Highway 25 near Hollister after a crash shut it down Thursday night, according to CHP.

Officers and Caltrans crews have been working around the clock to clean up the crash and spilled diesel fuel. Crews said 75 gallons of diesel fuel spilled on the highway and 25 gallons spilled into the shoulder.

Officers investigating the crash said a car ran a red light at about 11:30 p.m. and hit the big rig, overturning the rig.

There are victims with major injuries, but CHP said it’s not clear how many people were hurt or the extent of their injuries.

Traffic was diverted to Highway 25.

PREVIOUS STORY: Caltrans reports that all lanes of westbound SR 156 at SR 25 (Bolsa Road) near Hollister are closed due to a multiple vehicle accident with major injuries.

A big rig is involved and spilled some fuel due to the collision. Clean up crews are on scene.

Drivers are advised to expect delays and to use alternate routes. There is no estimated time of opening.

Eastbound traffic is being diverted to SR 25.
