UPDATE: New details released on murder-suicide in Capitola
UPDATE 3/28/17 8:45 P.M.: The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office is releasing new details on a murder-suicide in Capitola.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, an autopsy revealed that the 7-year-old girl and her father had gunshot wounds to the head.
Carlos Garcia’s death was ruled a suicide and his daughter’s death has been ruled a homicide.
The investigation into this case continues.

According to Chief Terry McManus, the wife of the 36-year old called police around 3 o’clock concerned that her husband was going to commit suicide. The wife also informed police that the 7-year old was with him. When police arrived at the mall they found the 36-year man dead in the driver’s seat. The 7-year-old’s body was in the passenger seat, McManus said.
Both victims died at the scene.
