Second person shot and killed over the weekend in Salinas

Salinas Police are investigating another homicide Monday morning.

Officers say it happened Sunday night just after 10:30 p.m. on the 500 block of Leslie Dr. Police say 28-year-old Victor Sausedo was shot and drove himself to Natividad Medical Center for help. Doctors tried to help him but he died of his injuries. Officers think the shooting is gang related.

This is the second homicide in the span of two days in Salinas.

On Saturday two farm worker cousins were shot on the 200 block of Dennis Avenue. Police say one died on scene, while the other has life threatening injuries. Officers say in this shooting both cousins had no gang ties, but believe the suspects did.

There have now been a total of 14 homicides to date in Salinas since the beginning of 2017.
