Poisonous shellfish warning lifted for Monterey County

A toxic shellfish advisory has been lifted by the California Department of Public Health for Monterey County.

According to the CDPH, an advisory was issued between last December and February for Tomales Bay, Monterey, San Luis Obispo County, Del Norte, Humboldt County and Mendocino Counties.

Consumers were warned not to eat recreationally caught bivalve shellfish due to dangerous levels of paralytic shellfish poisoning in recent test results.

However, the advisory is still in effect for Del Norte, Humboldt and Mendocino Counties.
