Residents asked to support small businesses in Salinas in wake of storm closures

Salinas City Center officials are asking locals to commit to spending $50 this weekend to support local businesses.

Several retailers in Old Town Salinas were hit hard during last week’s storm because they were closed for up to five business days by power outages, according to officials.

With power back on and businesses now open the Salinas City Center, business owners and several city councilmen are asking everyone to enjoy the area and commit to spending $50 over the weekend.

They offered suggestion of things to do in the Salinas City Center to show support:

-Eat breakfast, lunch or dinner.

-Grab a coffee or a cup of tea and some pastries.

-Do a little shopping or pick up a gift for someone else.

-See a movie and get some popcorn or candy.

-Treat yourself to a massage.

-Buy some craft supplies.

-Grab a drink with friends.
