Mudslide cleared from Highway 17 northbound lanes
Northbound lanes on Highway 17 near Vine Hill Rd. are back open after they were shut down two weeks ago because of a massive mudslide.
California Highway Patrol said both lanes were re-opened Tuesday morning, but one southbound lane is still closed because of damage from recent storms.
The northbound closure caused major delays and headaches for drivers who were diverted and faced backups lasting several hours.
Crews worked around the clock to remove the slide and on Feb. 9 a Graniterock worker was killed while clearing debris.
