U.S. Forest Service closes access to Nacimiento-Fergussson Rd.

Road slide concerns are prompting the closure of Nacimiento-Fergusson Rd. during a collaborative effort to keep the public safe between Monterey County and the Los Padres National Forest.

The road will be closed to all traffic starting 5 p.m. Wednesday, February 15, with road closure barriers at the South Coast Ridge Rd. and Nacimiento Summit junction and at the Highway 1 junction.

The U.S. Forest Service said the road will be repaired but there’s not an estimated time or day it will reopen.

The Forest Service is also discouraging people from using service roads in the Monterey District area due to unstable road conditions from recent storms.
