Austrian woman killed in Santa Cruz hit-and-run identified

UPDATE 2/7/17 12:11 p.m.: Santa Cruz police have identified the woman found dead in the road on Seabright Ave. Monday morning as Bianca Zipper, 26, from Austria.

Officers said she was killed during a hit-and-run crash while she and her husband were traveling through Santa Cruz on vacation.

Detectives are sifting through surveillance video in the area, for more information and evidence.

PREVIOUS STORY: A woman in her mid-20’s was hit and killed during a crash early Monday morning on Seabright Ave. south of Broadway, according to Santa Cruz police.

Officers said the woman was found lying in the road at about 2:38 a.m. and had possibly been the victim of a hit and run.

Not much is known about the woman and law enforcement are trying to notify her family.

Officers said there isn’t a description of the car and they’re looking for any information from potential witnesses.
