Salinas police arrest five during DUI enforcement

During special DUI enforcement effort over Super Bowl weekend, Salinas police said five drivers were arrested.

On Friday, police said a 34-year-old man was seen swerving on Highway 101 and was pulled over. During a sobriety test, officers said he showed a blood alcohol content level over twice the legal limit. He also had a previous DUI offense.

Later Friday, a 32-year-old man was arrested after running a red light after causing several cars to slam on their brakes to avoid a crash. Officers said that driver had a BAC four and a half times the legal limit during a sobriety test.

On Saturday, officers said a 38-year-old man accidently hit the gas instead of the brake and hit a parked car head-on. He was arrested for DUI and a .08 BAC.

On Sunday, police said a 21-year-old woman drove into two parked cars in front of a house and ended up on the front lawn. She was arrested and showed a .15 BAC during a sobriety test.

Sunday evening, officers said Ricardo Torres, 27, was arrested after hitting six parked cars, pushing one of them into a house. During a sobriety test, officers said his BAC was two and a half times the legal limit.

Over the weekend, Salinas Police said no one was hurt during any of the incidents.
