Stabbing suspect arrested after Salinas officers follow blood trail

Salinas police are investigating a stabbing Sunday night near Chin’s Market at N. Main St. and Rossi St.

Officers said a 29-year-old man was found stabbed in the 100 block of Main St. around 10:24 p.m. and was uncooperative.

After following a trail of blood from the scene, up some stairs and to the front door of a nearby house, officers said they found Eric Lara, 26. Lara was found with blood on his clothes and a small cut on his hand.

Officers said Lara was identified by two witnesses that were walking nearby when the fight happened.

Lara is on parole and was booked at the Monterey County Jail on charges of attempted murder and parole violation.

Police said the victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries but is expected to survive.
