Santa Cruz police arrest five in bike bait sting

A handful of people are facing charges after a bike bait operation by the Santa Cruz Police Department Neighborhood Enforcement Team and the alcohol enforcement unit last week.

Police said a bike was placed at several locations on January 27 and 28 around the downtown area and within several minutes, they were stolen.

During the operation, five arrests were made: Ladonia Miller, 40, Michael France, 30, Terry Ford, 42, Shad Stephens, 37, and Derek Marquette, 40.

Police said Miller, Stephens and Marquette, all transient men from Santa Cruz were also arrested on drug charges.
