Military exercise planned for Wednesday in Monterey

Navy officials say there is a chance people may see increased military activity Wednesday around the Navy’s facilities in Monterey. They want to assure residents that it’s only a drill.

Exercise Solid Curtain-Citadel Shield is an annual anti-terrorism/force protection exercise designed to test the readiness of Navy security forces.

Naval Support Activity Monterey, located on the Naval Postgraduate School campus, will participate in the annual drill. According to Navy officials, the drill is not in response to any specific threat.

The Navy says there may be increased traffic around bases, and residents may hear security activities associated with the exercise.
