Gov Brown declares state of emergency for local counties

Governor Jerry Brown has declared a state of emergency for 50 counties across California, including Monterey, Santa Cruz, San Benito, and Santa Clara.

The emergency proclamations were issued to help secure federal funding and aid from the recent storms that have caused flooding, erosion, and heavy damage to roads and structures.

Tuesday at 9am in Hollister, the San Benito Board of Supervisors will meet with CalOES and the CA Department of Fish and Wildlife to discuss the flooding and Governor’s proclamations.

A spokesperson for San Benito County says the floods have caused 3.7 million dollars in damage, not including costs to fix a broken levee and repair costs for privately owned homes and property.
