Castroville homicide victim identified

UPDATE 1/24/17 12:00 PM: The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office released the identity of a homicide victim killed Saturday night in Castroville.

Julian Quintereo, 20, of Castroville, was fatally shot during a fight outside a house party on Knollwood Court in the Oak Hills area just outside of Castroville.

ORIGINAL STORY: A house party near Castroville turned deadly when several uninvited people showed up and gunfire broke out during a fight, the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office said.

Sheriff’s deputies said they responded to a call just before midnight Saturday about the shooting at a house party near Castroville.

Deputies said the party was supposed to be for high school seniors only but several people who were not invited got word of it and showed up.

Deputies said the individuals were not allowed in and a fight broke out. During the fight, someone began shooting and one person was fatally wounded, deputies said.

The Sheriff’s Office is now asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact them.
