Salinas woman killed in Friday car accident

A Salinas woman died Friday night when her SUV crossed over the lane and struck another vehicle on Highway 68, west of Torero Drive.

The California Highway Patrol reported the crash Monday, saying Deysi Jimenez, 35, was driving westbound when her Suzuki SUV crossed into eastbound traffic and into the path of a Mazda pickup. The vehicles collided and came to a rest in the eastbound lane.

Jimenez was pronounced dead at the scene. The male driver of the truck was hospitalized for minor injuries.

The crash is under investigation. At this time, investigators do not believe that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.
