Protesters build their own wall in Santa Cruz
Protesters spoke out against President Donald Trump by building their own wall in downtown Santa Cruz on Thursday.
Artists and volunteers said they painted about 250 cardboard boxes to look like a brick wall similar to the one Trump plans to build on the Mexico border.
Protesters gathered at the corner of Copper Street and Pacific Avenue in Santa Cruz on Friday at about 3 p.m. to knock the boxes over.
Grant Wilson, a protester, said, “It was an opportunity to theatrically present that in a creative way so people could just experience that and see what it’s like to have a wall that divides people.”
The wall was about 8 feet tall and about 250 feet long.
According to protesters, it was knocked down to show their disapproval and frustration over Trump’s plan.
