Salinas student group visits Panetta in Washington

A group of Central Coast high school students met with Congressman Jimmy Panetta in Washington D.C. on Thursday. They visited him in his office, and then Panetta marched with them to a youth empowerment rally.

The students, members of the Salinas Valley Dream Academy, are visiting the nation’s capital to experience Friday’s presidential inauguration of Donald Trump. It’s something Dream Academy has done before.

According to the organization’s website, past members attended both of President Obama’s inauguration ceremonies.

KION reporter Matt Sizemore spoke with Congressman Panetta this afternoon. Tonight, he’ll tell us what these students wanted to know during their visit with the Central Coast lawmaker.
