Body missing in Salinas 2015 homicide, police say
UPDATE 1/17/17 3:33 p.m.: Salinas police are revealing more about the murder of Paulino Guzman III in December 2015.
During a press conference Tuesday afternoon, police said Guzman’s body has not been found. But investigators believe he was a victim of gun violence at Harden Ranch Apartments, possibly after a party.
Tai Cruz, 23, of Salinas, is accused of killing Guzman. Police said they were able to charge him with Guzman’s killing based on statements and physical evidence.
Guzman’s murder is being considered the 36th homicide in the city of Salinas in 2016.PREVIOUS STORY: Salinas Police have arrested a suspect who they say killed a man who went missing over a year ago.
Paulino Guzman III (seen below), was last seen on December 12, 2015. Family members told police at the time that Guzman was in good spirits with no plans to leave town.
Investigators came to believe Guzman was murdered while attending a party at an apartment in the 2200 block of N. Main Street.
On Tuesday, detectives announced they had arrested Tai Cruz, 23, of Salinas on a $2.2 million arrest warrant, charging one count of homicide. Cruz was arrested at his place of employment and booked into the Monterey County Jail.
