Water is unsafe to drink at Lover’s Lane near Hollister
The water on Lover’s Lane north of Hollister is unsafe to drink and boiling won’t help, according to the San Benito County Office of Emergency Services.
The neighborhood was flooded and over 100 people evacuated late Tuesday night and Wednesday after Pacheco Creek overflowed its banks. Some were rescued by boat.
On Thursday afternoon, the county advised residents of Lover’s Lane to not drink tap water in their homes. Boiling the water will not make it safe, the county said. The county plans to distribute water to residents tonight at 5 p.m. and additional water will be available at the Command Center at Dunneville Restaurant. The county plans to continue testing the water and will notify residents when its safe to start using the tap.
