Part of Elkhorn Rd. closed after landslide
Elkhorn Road is closed from Walker Valley Road to the entrance of the Elkhorn Slough Foundation until further notice following a landslide that happened on Friday, according to a press release from the Monterey County Resource Management Agency – Public Works.
Local traffic may use both Walker Valley Road and Strawberry Road, however, drivers are strongly encouraged to utilize Castroville Boulevard and Hall Road.
The released said, Elkhorn Road will be closed for some period of time (perhaps several weeks). However, Public Works engineering staff will be evaluating the damages to the road and will develop a plan to provide repairs as needed.
This is a major issue, and may require substantial reconstruction, according to the release.
