Police investigate armed robbery at a Salinas gas station
Police are searching for two people who robbed a Salinas gas station on Thursday night.
It happened just after 10:00 p.m. in the 400 block of North Main Street, where a 22-year-old clerk was working. Two men entered the store and robbed the clerk at gunpoint, demanding money from the register. They also took a handful of cigars from behind the counter.
Both suspects left the building and went westbound on Cassentini. A security officer parked at a nearby business spotted the two. When they saw him they cut across a greenbelt and left the area.
Suspect one was described as a Hispanic sounding man, about 5’9″ and 150 lbs. He was wearing a black ski mask and black hoodie, carrying a black semi-automatic handgun.
Suspect two was described as approximately 5’3″ and 150 lbs. He was also wearing dark clothing, including a black ski mask, black hoodie. He had a bulky backpack, but did not appear to be armed.
