CHP: Driver hurt in Wednesday morning crash

A Santa Cruz woman was taken to a South Bay hospital with a head injury after crashing her car into another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction on North Rodeo Gulch Road in Santa Cruz.

The California Highway Patrol reported Wednesday that the 35-year-old driver was at the wheel of a northbound 2000 Toyota 4Runner that crossed over solid double lines into the path of a southbound 2006 Toyota Tundra at around 4:25 a.m. Wednesday.

The Tundra, driven by a 64-year-old man from Soquel, collided with the 4Runner’s passenger side.

Both drivers remained at the scene until CHP and emergency medical crews arrived. The woman received medical aid and was transported to Valley Medical Center for treatment of a head injury.

According to the CHP, the cause of the accident is still under investigation. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the crash.
