Police officer’s tradition of gift-giving continues

While most kids eagerly await Santa’s arrival, many youngsters in East Salinas look forward to a visit from Gerry Magaña.

On Christmas Day, Magaña, a Salinas Police officer, delivered toys and gifts to children in East Salinas neighborhoods. He has delivered gifts for 12 consecutive years.

Magaña paid for the presents out of his own pocket. This year, he gave out over 100 gifts.

Magaña’s generosity was spotlighted Sunday on the Salinas Police Department Facebook page.
