UPDATE: Washington man killed in Highway One crash
UPDATE 12/14/16 10:45 AM: The California Highway Patrol is investigating a single vehicle crash that killed a Washington man Tuesday on Highway 1 north of the Granite Canyon Bridge.
According to the CHP, a 54-year-old man from Newcastle, Washington died when his 2016 Nissan Altima drifted from the southbound lane and collided with a dirt embankment on the west side of the road.
The CHP has not determined if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.
ORIGINAL STORY: One person was killed after a single car crash on Highway One near Soberanes Point.
According to the California Highway Patrol, it happened around 4:12 p.m. Tuesday in the Carmel area.
The driver hit an embankment and crashed. It’s not clear what caused the wreck.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating.
